                                                                                    he Uganda Vision 2040 and NDP
                                                                                    II underscore the importance of
                                                                                    social protection in addressing
                                                                                    social and economic risks and
                                                                          Tvulnerabilities.  Additionally,
                                                                           the Third National Development Plan (NDP
                                                                           III) (2020/21 – 2024/25) aims at increasing
                                                                           household incomes and improving the quality
                                                                           of life of Ugandans through, among others,
                                                                           sustainable industrialisation for inclusive
                                                                           growth, employment and sustainable wealth
                                                                           creation as well as human capital development.
                                                                           The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social
                                                                           Development (MGLSD) developed the National
                                                                           Social Protection Policy, which was approved
                                                                           and launched by Government in 2015.
                                                                            The  National Single Registry (NSR) is premised
                                                                           on the National Social Protection Policy, 2015,
                                                                           which is anchored on two pillars:  Social security,
                                                                           and Social care & support services, within which
                                                                           different stakeholders are providing social
                                                                           protection services to citizens.
                                                                            The Ministry, in line with its mandate of
                                                                           empowering communities to harness their
                                                                           potential through skills development, labour
                                                                           productivity and cultural growth for sustainable
                                                                           and gender responsive development, continues
