
OLDER PERSONS TO REAP BIG FROM CASHEW NUT FARMING
From the Protea hotel in Kololo Older persons have been unveiling a new Cashew Nut Model billed to be the game changer in the quest for economic empowerment of Older persons. Hon. Mafwabi Gidudu the Minister responsible for Older persons said “The older persons are not looking to buy cars, in fact, if you didn’t buy a car at 60 you don’t need it now. What we are looking at is sustainable income for the older persons.” Hon Mafwabi was speaking at a high-level Breakfast meeting on Empowering Older Persons in Commercial Agriculture. At this meeting, a memorandum of understanding between the GRO Foundation and the National Council for Older Persons was unveiled. Under the MOU the GRO foundation will provide Cashew Nut seedling to older persons. Under this Model which re-enforces the 4-acre model older persons could dedicate just 1 acre of Land for Cashew Nut
