ILO Centenary Celebrations

The Ministry, together with Tripartite Partners joined to commemorate the International Labour Organisation (ILO) centenary celebrations under the theme: the Future of Work in Uganda. An interactive panel discussion focusing on : Assessing the Future of Work: Challenges and Opportunities for Uganda, highlighted the need for investment in skills development to promote employability and job creation.

Uganda celebrates 100 years of ILO

The Government of Uganda on   11th  to commemorate 100 years of existence of the International Labour   Organisation (ILO), marking a century of promoting social justice and   decent work around the world while also re-affirming Uganda’s  commitment  to promoting and advancing decent work.

The 2nd Deputy  Prime  Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Al Haj  Kirunda  Kivenjinja represented President of the Republic of Uganda,  H.E Yoweri  Kaguta Museveni at the ceremony held at the Kampala Sheraton  Hotel.

At  the celebrations, there was a presentation of the  Future of Work  Report, presentation of the National Development Plan  (NDP III) and its  link to the Future of Work and a Panel discussion on  the report  presentation and NDP III link to the report.

Panelists  were drawn  from the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE), The National  Organisation  of Trade Unions in Uganda (NOTU), The International  Labour Organisation  (ILO) and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social  Development.
