Uganda Hosts 11th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Kampala

Uganda proudly hosted the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, bringing together high-level delegates, policy makers, civil society, and youth from across the continent.

On the opening day of the 11th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD2025) at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda hosted the Gender Forum under the theme: “Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for Africa’s Inclusive and Sustainable Development.”

The forum brought together African governments, civil society, UN agencies, youth, and grassroots women’s movements to reflect on gender equality as a critical enabler of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union Agenda 2063.

Commissioner Angela Nakafeero, from Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, led a powerful discussion during the report-back session, highlighting Uganda’s progress and challenges in promoting women’s rights and gender-responsive development. She emphasized the need to invest in women’s economic empowerment, education, and protection from gender-based violence.

The Gender Forum set the tone for the rest of ARFSD2025, reaffirming that no sustainable future is possible without full inclusion and equality for all women and girls across Africa.
