In a vibrant ceremony held at Kololo Independence Grounds, the Government of Uganda — through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development — handed over a fleet of brand-new vehicles to local cultural leaders across the country.

The event, graced by the Vice President of Uganda, celebrated the pivotal role cultural institutions play in community mobilisation, the uptake of government programmes, and advancing socio-economic transformation.

Under the theme “Repositioning Cultural Institutions for Community Mobilisation, Uptake of Government Programmes, and Social Economic Transformation,” the initiative symbolized the government’s continued recognition of culture as a cornerstone of national development.

Cultural leaders expressed gratitude, pledging to use the vehicles to enhance outreach and engagement with communities, fostering peace, unity, and participation in key government initiatives.

This handover marks a milestone in strengthening the collaboration between government and cultural institutions — driving development from the grassroots and keeping Uganda’s rich heritage at the heart of progress.
