The Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, represented by Mr. Fred Ngabirano, Commissioner – Youth and Children, has today officially opened the Regional Exchange Workshop on Experiences of Refugee Inclusive Child Protection Systems under the PROSPECTS Programmes supported by UNHCR and UNICEF. The meeting seeks to facilitate the exchange of promising policies, practices, lessons learned in refugee-inclusive child protection systems.
Present in the meeting was the Ambassador of the Government of Netherlands, the Country Representatives of UNHCR, UNICEF and delegates from the eight PROSPECTS countries of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Sudan and Uganda.
In his remarks, the PS highlighted Uganda’s robust national legal and policy framework as well innovations under the landmark instruments of the National Social Care and Support Framework and the National Social Service Workforce Strategy. He also highlighted effort to harmonise data systems under the Child Wellbeing Management Information System and roll out SAUTI 116 National Child and GBV Helpline.
