Minister of State for Gender and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Mary Grace Kuteesa, representing Hon. Henry Tumukunde, has pledged government support for the Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA) apprenticeship programme. Speaking at the graduation ceremony, she said the success stories of young people who have benefited from the programme demonstrate the importance of practical skills in transforming lives and improving livelihoods. She also urged hotel owners to promote Uganda’s cultural heritage by showcasing traditional food, music, art and other cultural experiences to visitors, especially as the country prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
